#14 STUDY THE SAVIOR THROUGH THE TOPICAL GUIDE REFERENCES

Image
As I read and studied these topics there are many things I learned, but two I that stand out.  First, the importance of hearkening to the voice of the prophet.  President Nelson had asked us to study the Savior in depth, and I responded.  Second, it was very inspirational to focus on the divine roles of the Savior and learn more about each one of them individually. I feel my testimony and love for the Savior has deepened because of this study.

#13 NOTRE DAME FOOTBALL GAME

Image
This was a lot of fun!  Sandi and I flew out to Ft. Wayne Indiana and spent the day in South Bend.  As we drove in to South Bend I thought of Joe Theisman, Joe Montana, Rudy Rudiger, George Gipp and Knute Rockne.  Notre Dame is such a storied program with so much history. The campus is beautiful. It was fun to watch the team walk in and the band play.  The bands half time performance of man’s first landing on the moon was priceless. The game was everything that I had hoped for Notre Dame 30 USC 27!

#12 HELP SOMEONE PAY THEIR MORTGAGE

Image
This was a special experience that we were grateful to assist with.  A dear friend of ours had been out of work for over a year and half due to health issues and though they were vigilant with their money during that time, finances were getting extremely tight!  We had received an extra bonus that we had not planned on, and during a conversation we felt that they could benefit the best from receiving a little cushion and paying their mortgage for 2 months.  We have been so blessed and hope to help others through life's ups and downs.  Soon after this experience he was able to find a job that he is still currently working for and his health is being managed and their family is doing much better.

#11 JOIN AN EXECUTIVE SUPPORT GROUP

Image
When I worked at Goengineer the owner of the company Ken Coburn had joined a group called Young Presidents.  I watched how he took complicated issues to this group and it propelled the company forward.  I knew that I needed to do something like this so that I could bounce ideas off of my peers.  I was fortunate that Tom the owner of Nlign & Etegent, my new company, gave me this opportunity.  I joined the Vistage group and have been greatly rewarded each and every time I attend. Interestingly Tom and Ken have very similar personalities.

#10 RUN A MARATHON

Image
This has taken me a long time to complete.  I signed up for a marathon almost  10 years ago, but ran into some serious health issues related to my stomach  that I could not figure out.  Interestingly as I have run over the last several months  I have been able to manage my stomach and my knee has given me very little  problems.  The hardest run was either the 18 miles on the tread mill or running  hills in inclement weather - I still haven't decided.  Before I left I started to think of the people that would not be able to run this race.  Their challenges are far beyond the difficulty of running 26 miles. So I wrote their  names on my shoes and decided I would run for them! They were the reason  I think I made it to the finish - I could not give in and never give up! It was snowing  when I got to the starting location for the marathon.  There were people everywhere. It was a bit exhilarating an...

#9 TAKE A DANCING CLASS WITH SANDI

Image
I think Sandi put this on my list!  Sandi cooked us a formal Valentines Dinner and then I took her dancing in SLC.  I owed her for not asking her to dance when I met her.  So, to save our marriage (haha), I took her dancing for Valentines of 2019.  The only moves I know are country swing.  No matter what we were taught and no matter how many times I practiced, my moves turned into country swing.  It was fun to spend some time with Sandi.  Learning new dances (which I can't remember!) was not something I would enjoy doing again.

#8 BUILD A LARGE STAR WARS LEGO SET

Image
I have always been a huge Star Wars fan plus I enjoy puzzles, but purchasing this Lego set was a first for me.  I can see how people like Lego's so much! I was doing something that had nothing to do with any of my pressures, but was also very straight forward and didn’t require a lot of thought.  It was a needed break.
